Bill Hunter died August 19, 2026, at Woodbridge VA, age 91, He was born September 21, 1934, in Enid, Oklahoma to Robert Raymon Hunter and Frances Fenton Knowles Hunter.

He lived his early childhood in Enid and then moved to Harper, Kansas where his family farmed. He graduated from Harper High School in the Class of 52 and has enjoyed many reunions with his classmates.

He served in the army in Germany. When he returned home, he went to the University of Kansas for an Electrical Engineering degree. There he met his wife Darlene, and they were married in 1961. He went to work for FAA after finishing college and the family went on the road for several years while Bill installed radar and navigation aids.

First permanent job location was Honolulu, Hawaii, then Washington DC, Grand Island Nebraska and finally Washington DC 38 years ago.

He enjoyed Woodbridge after retirement, walking at the mall, volunteering at the Courthouse and in the Genealogy and Local History Room (RELIC) at the Prince William County Library, and exercising at Chinn Park Aquatic Center.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Darlene, son Greg and wife, Kim; daughter, Annette Phillips and husband, Nick and granddaughters, Brady and Maggy of Lewisburg Tennessee.

A Memorial Get Together will be held September 11, 2026, at Mount Castle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd, Dale City, VA. Please drop in anytime between 1-3 to visit with the family.
