Cordie Manford Ruark was born May 26, 1955 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, son of Patty Ruark. He grew up in Sun City, Kansas, the oldest of 6 siblings.

Cordie met, fell in love with, and spent his entire adult life with his love, Deborah Calhoun. They were blessed with two children, Cory and Jamie. They made their home in Medicine Lodge before settling in Attica, Kansas.

In earlier years, Cordie worked at the coop in Medicine Lodge. He then began a career in the oilfield industry.  Later in life, he drove a water truck for Nicholas Water Service and Theis. Before retiring he worked for Val Energy as a pumper.

Cordie was known to most people as a grumpy old man who had no problem telling you what was on his mind or how he felt about ya , however he was also the type if you needed help and he could help he was right there to offer a helping hand. Since retiring he loved to go fishing in his down time. He was an avid football fan especially when it came to Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, and OU.

Cordie was a loving husband to Debbie, wonderful father to Cory and Jamie, and the best "grumpy" to his grandkids. Growing up his kids remember him being a hard-working man who was always there for them and had hands that were soft and kind when then they were crying and hard as steel when they done wrong. His grandchildren truly were truly the highlight of his life.

On September 20, 2024, Cordie passed away suddenly at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by his mother; sister, Lavia Mallard; and uncle who raised him as his own, Thomas Miracle.

Cordie will be deeply missed by his wife, Debbie; his son, Cory Ruark and companion, Trudy; his daughter, Jamie Ruark and her children, Thomas and Adriana; his brothers, Sam Lowe, John (Debra) Lowe, and Beaumont (Debbie) Lowe; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2024 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony, Kansas with Pastor Kent Olds officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cordie Ruark Memorial Fund and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
