Clifton E. Barwick was born on February 10, 1947, to Franklin E. and Annie A. (Pearcy) Barwick, in Pond Creek, Oklahoma.  Clif as he liked to be called, moved from Pond Creek to the Wakita/Sand Creek, Oklahoma communities, prior to his second birthday.  Clif attended the Gore and Wakita Public Schools, graduating from Wakita with the Class of 1966.  Clif was an energetic young lad and worked after school, weekends and during the Summers mowing grass, scooping snow, hauling trash, working at the local grocery stores and for the Farmers Co-op Elevator Company in Wakita in their service station.

Clif was drafted into the U.S. Army on October 5, 1966.  He took training as a combat medic and served in New York City and in the Republic of Viet Nam.  Clif returned to civilian life, and to a job with The Farmers Co-op Elevator Company, on September 22, 1968.

Clif and Diana Lynn (Place) Barwick were united in marriage on November 25, 1968, in Davenport, Oklahoma.  Clif and Diana made their home in Wakita, until November 1973, when Clif rejoined the US Army.  Clif took training as a legal clerk and was assigned to Fort Meade, Maryland.  While in Maryland Clif was recruited for training as a Counterintelligence Agent.  As an Agent, Clif served in Munich, Germany, Fort Stewart, Georgia, Korea, Fort Riley, Kansas and with the Department of the Army.  While in Fort Stewart, Clif was a member of the Masonic Lodge.  Clif retired from the US Army on November 30, 1991 as a Chief Warrant Officer Three.  Clif was very proud of his military career and was extremely proud of the fact that he served as enlisted Sergeant First Class, prior to selection as a Warrant Officer.

In his 20 year military career, Clif was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Superior Unit Award, Bronze  Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Professional Development Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Marksmanship Badge Pistol, Expert Marksmanship Badge Rifle, and Overseas Service Bar-2.

After retiring from the Army, Clif and Diana made their home in Junction City, Kansas.  He started working in construction and soon opened his own business, Barwick Renovations, a company he ran until retiring again in 2016.  During these years he attended Kansas State University and received a Bachelors Degree in 2009.  He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and the Eagle's Lodge in Junction City.

Clif's pride and joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, and he always looked forward to the time he was able to spend with them.  He enjoyed woodworking and made many treasures for his family.  He was an avid reader, western books being his favorite.

On November 15, 2022, Clif passed away at the University of Kansas Health Center in Kansas City, Kansas at the age of 75.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diana Lynn Barwick; infant daughter, Marcella Deone Barwick; grandson, Joseph Nelson; and brother, Stacy Barwick.

Clif will be deeply missed by his children:  Justin Barwick, Dedra Morrow and companion, Ernest Obregon, and Jeanne Jenkins; siblings: Annie Roberts, Dave Barwick (Darlene), Jody Redding (Gene), Joy Nepstad, and Nancy Wilczek; 5 grandchildren:  Justin Barwick II, Joshua Froseth, Marcella Hearn (Stephen), Noah Wilcox, and Gensis "Katy" Barwick; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Wakita, Oklahoma with Pastor Alan Baker officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Wakita Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.
