Cleo Edith Jelinek was born on January 9, 1928 at home in Bluff City, Kansas. She was the youngest of 8 children of Benjamin "Harry" and Florence (Coon) Morris. Cleo passed away February 16, 2017 at the Anthony Community Care Center at the age of 89.

Cleo grew up in Bluff and lived there almost all of her life. She graduated from Bluff City High School and shortly after married Glenn Mandevill. They had a daughter, Joyce.

In 1950, Cleo married Stanley Jelinek. Cleo enjoyed her jobs of homemaker and wife the most. However, she did work as a secretary at the Sam P. Wallingford elevator in Bluff City while Stanley was the manager.

Cleo was all about family and friends. Even though miles separated many of them, she always kept in touch.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, horses, cattle and raising baby calves on the bottle.

Probably the highlight of her life was her two grandsons, Shane and Travis. They spent every summer on the farm with their grandma and grandpa while growing up.

Cleo was very active in the Bluff City United Methodist Church. She belonged to the UMW, WSCS, chairperson of the PPRC, and was the church secretary for a while.

Cleo was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley; four brothers: Ben, Henry, Ed and Dave; and three sisters: Lauretta, Marie and Betty.

She will be forever missed by her daughter, Joyce Marsh and husband, Earl; grandsons: Shane Marsh and wife, Heather, Travis Marsh and wife, Annette; great-grandchildren: Baylen, Drayson, Brailey, Brieley and Brenson; many nieces and nephews; other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2017 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony with Reverend Jan Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bluff City.

Memorials may be made to the Bluff City United Methodist Church or the Anthony Community Care Center and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
