Charlene Kay Hekel was born December 30, 1939 in Anthony, Kansas, daughter of Lloyd and Pauline (Bettis) Patterson. She graduated from Anthony High School with the Class of 1958.
On December 1, 1957, Charlene was united in marriage with Robert Delane Hekel at the United Methodist Church in Harper, Kansas. This union was blessed with two children: Greg and Delana.
Charlene and Robert made their home on a farm near Harper and farmed together for many years. After retiring from farming they moved to Anthony.
Charlene was a member of the United Methodist Church in Anthony. Since Robert was an active Shriner and Mason, Charlene helped with many of the organizations functions and events. She was an avid QVC and Dillard's shopper! Lol! She also enjoyed growing flowers.
On September 7, 2018, Charlene passed away at Attica Long Term Care at the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert on March 11, 2015; her parents; and one sister, Beverly.
Charlene will be deeply missed by her son, Greg Hekel and wife, Tonya; her daughter, Delana Edmondson; 7 grandchildren: Kimberly Brummer and husband, Jared, Greg Hekel Jr. and companion, Lindsey Duwe, Derrick Arnold, Brandon Hekel and wife, Cynthia, Justin Arnold and companion, Jenn Janet, Tammy Edmondson, and Jaylee Hekel; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; her shih tzu, Addie; and a host of other relatives and friends.
