Change in Service
Due to the possibility of rain tomorrow, the service is going to be held at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony. We will be providing hand sanitizer at the door and will be practicing the social distancing meaning all individuals will have to remain 6 feet apart. If you are ill or feeling ill please do not attend.
We are doing our best to meet the wishes of each family we are serving during this time of uncertainty.
Diana Kay Hill was born August 30, 1956 in Wellington, Kansas, one of four children born to Ronald E. and Lewanna (Fox) Hill. She grew up in Anthony graduating from Chaparral High School with the Class of 1974. Upon graduating she attended Vernon's School Cosmetology in Wichita, Kansas. She returned to Anthony, working under Marilyn Feely, Tom Brown and JoAnn McDermott.
In 1977, Kay, as she was known by, moved to Wichita and began working at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator, retiring in 2002. She started a new career as an emergency room registration clerk at Via Christi Hospitals, where she worked until her cancer diagnosis in 2016.
Her true passion was baking and catering which she enjoyed doing on the side for many years. A born food lover, her bucket list only contained names of restaurants she wanted to try, and she would travel many miles to mark one off her list.
On March 26, 2020, Diana passed away at her home in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 63. She was preceded in death by her father, Ron Hill and her brother, Edmund Hill.
Diana will be deeply missed by her mother, Lewanna Hill, sister, Tammy Norman; sister-in-law, Susan Hill; nieces and nephews, Heather (Joseph) Brannon, and daughter, Michaela, Melissa (Kelly) Barnett and children, Destiny and Travis, Shana (Anthony) Appelhanz and sons, Blane and Bryce, and Kyle (Audrey) Hill and sons, Thomas and Harrison; 3 great-great nieces and nephews; her beloved dog, Snowball; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Memorial graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2020 at Spring Grove Cemetery, west of Anthony, Kansas with The Reverend Mary Hixson officiating.
Friends may sign the register from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.
Memorials in memory of Diana may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
