Ogden, Carolyn Fay (Hager) passed away on September 16, 2018 at her home in Attica, Kansas after a brief illness.
Carolyn was born October 20, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas to Marvin and Helen (Whitney) Hager. After Marvin was drafted into the US Army to serve in World War 2 and was subsequently stationed in France, Helen with daughters Helen "Mickey" and Carolyn moved to Anthony, KS where they awaited the return of Marvin from his military service.
She attended Anthony Public Schools and met her future husband, Alvin, at the age of 6 while visiting neighbors.
During high school, Carolyn and Alvin began dating and were married on August 14, 1961. Together, they were partners in business for many years in Attica, KS.
While residing in Attica, Carolyn was very active within the community and was an ardent and vocal "Bulldog Booster". Carolyn was elected to the Attica School District Board of Education where she served for many years and she was instrumental in the early 1980s in getting the community votes needed to build as well as overseeing the construction of a new high school. She also volunteered as a school athletic activity bus driver and for a short time, as the kindergarten bus driver.
Carolyn was also an active firefighting member of the Attica Volunteer Fire Department for 5 years. At one time, Carolyn, Alvin, and son Bart were all on the department together. Many fires were contained with Alvin at the wheel and Carolyn running the hose. She was certainly a brave woman who was always up for a challenge.
After closing their business in Attica, Carolyn & Alvin moved to Wichita where she worked for a short time as an administrative assistant before she and Alvin took over a handyman business and ran that business until their retirement.
Carolyn was also very active and involved with Alvin in Midian Shriners activities.
After retirement, Carolyn and Alvin moved to Gladstone, MO for a short time to be closer to their only grandchild. Following that, they moved back "home" to Attica where they resided at the time of her passing.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Helen Hager of Anthony, KS; sister Helen "Mickey" (Hager) Watkins of Newton, KS; and nephew Justin Hager of Fort Stockton, TX.
She is survived by her loving husband Alvin Ogden of the home; son Bart (Lesa) Ogden of Wichita; daughter Carrie (Sean) Roberson and granddaughter Whitney Lundy of Gladstone, MO; brother Ralph (Kathy) Hager of Tonopah, AZ; and numerous nephews and cousins.
As per Carolyn's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held October 20, 2018 at the Attica Memorial Hall at 10:00 am. Everyone will be invited to stay for lunch and a time of fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Kansas Masonic Cancer Fund or to the Midian Shrine Patient Transportation Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home or to the family.
Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 613 W 14th ~ Harper, Kansas 67058 is assisting the family with arrangements.
