Carol Lynn Lazarus of Georgetown, Texas died October 9, 2022 at home.  She was born in Winfield, Kansas on March 16, 1945, daughter of Helen Joyce (Young) Evans and E. W. Evans of Jackson, Tennessee, formerly of Winfield, who preceded Carol in death.

In 1967, Carol began her career at Jardine Junior High School in Topeka, Kansas, teaching English, while also serving as the drama coach and sponsoring several student clubs.  In 1970 she moved with her husband to Connecticut, where she taught English at Tomlinson Junior High School in Fairfield, serving several years as the department liaison.  Later, she taught English at Fairfield High School where she was instrumental in establishing a writing lab program that integrated technology within the English curriculum. Likewise, she was a representative on various school and town committees for both English and technology. During this time, she completed university work on her Master's Degree and certificates for both a sixth and seventh year in Advanced Studies.

After her retirement in 2000, Carol divided her time between Georgetown, Texas, and Southbury, Connecticut.  She and her husband enjoyed traveling, especially by car in the states and Canada, and river boat throughout Europe. London and Paris were also favorite spots to visit.  In Georgetown, she was an active member of the Bookophiles Book Club, Friends of the Georgetown Public Library, and Senior University.  With her husband, she supported the Austin Chamber Society, the Blanton Museum, the Georgetown Symphony, and the James Dick Foundation of the Arts.  In the Southbury area, she attended performances of the Heritage Village Concert Series, programs at the Southbury Public Library, Music Mountain, Tanglewood, and the Goodspeed Opera House.

Carol is survived by her husband, Gary J. Lazarus; sister Sherrie Haynes of Phil Campbell, Alabama; and nephews Matt Tyler of Jackson, Tim Tyler of Rogers, Arkansas, Phillip Tyler of Bradford, Tennessee, and Jon Lazarus of Salem, Oregon.

Graveside Service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the Harper Cemetery with Pastor Ed Hughlett officiating.  The service will be recorded and the video will be available to view shortly after the service on the funeral home website, www.prairierosefuneralhomes.com, on Carol's obituary page.
