Betty Louise Stevens was born January 2, 1920, at home on the family farm near Medicine Lodge, Kansas to Jay Irvin and Ivy Lurinda (Axtell) Warren. She was raised on this farm, 1 of 17 children (twins passed away as infants and 1 passed away at age 9). Attending schools in Medicine Lodge, she graduated high school with the class of 1938. Betty then worked for the Gyp Mill a few years.

On October 29, 1944, Betty was united in marriage with Raymond E. Stevens at the Trinity Methodist Church in Hutchinson, Kansas. They were blessed with 4 sons: Rodney, Wayne, Larry, and Wyatt and the family made their home in Harper, Kansas. Betty was a loving and dedicated homemaker, wife, and mother. The youngest son was 15 when Raymond passed away on January 11, 1972. Tragedy within her family continued 2 years later when her youngest son was killed in a vehicle crash.

Collecting chicken memorabilia, crocheting, and reading books were Betty's favorite past times. Her many years living in Harper, she was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church. When her health declined, she moved into Asbury Park Assisted Living in Newton, Kansas, becoming a part of that family as well as being close to one of her sons. Betty's love for the Presbyterian Church continued as she jokingly scolded her son for moving her into a Methodist nursing home.

Reuniting with her husband and 2 of her sons and after a full life of 97 years, 9 months, and 7 days, Betty passed away in her bed at Asbury Park on October 9, 2017. Preceding her death are her husband, Raymond; sons, Wyatt Ray and Rodney Lee and his wife, Janet; parents, Jay and Ivy; and siblings: Mildred, Robert, Marjorie, Ned, Ralph, Kendall, Wendell, Marion, Maene, Fred, Flora, Keith, Donald, Oma, and Hazel. Those that will cherish her memories are her sons, Wayne E. Stevens and his wife, Audrey of Newton and Larry W. Stevens and his wife, Tena of Burlington, Kansas; brother, Tom Warren and his wife, Mary of Wagoner, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Jann Moore and her husband, David, Aaron Stevens and his wife, Julie, Jonathan Stevens, Laura Stevens, and William Stevens; great-grandchildren, Zoe and Maxwell Moore; step granddaughter, Tonya Rivard and her husband, David; step great-grandchildren: Veronica, Marcella, and Vanessa; step great great-grandchildren: Chyler, Olivia, and Bailee; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Friends may view and register from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Funeral is at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Harper with Mr. Eddie Barber officiating. Interment will follow at the Harper Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
