Betty Louise Baker was born October 26th, 1932 at the Galloway Hospital in Anthony, Kansas, daughter of Clarence and Ella (Moyer) Hare.  She was raised on a farm near Freeport, Kansas and graduated from Bluff City High School in 1950.

Betty and Robert Louis "Bob" Baker had their first date at a Tony Pastor (Big Band) dance at the Forum building in Wichita, Kansas.  The two grew up 7 miles from each other and Bob was friends with Betty's brother, and Betty was friends with Bob's sister.  The two fell madly in love and married on January 21 ^st , 1956.  They spent many evenings attending concerts at the Cotillion in Wichita and movies and various theaters around the area.  In 2021, they celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary.

Betty was a farmer's daughter that became a farmer's wife.  She worked alongside, Bob, on their farm near Bluff City.  She also worked as the Post Master of the Bluff City Post Office for 20 years.

Betty enjoyed sewing, making clothes, especially pant suits, as well as hot pads, Christmas gifts, drapes, curtains, and bed spreads.  Just like her mom, Ella, Betty loved reading newspapers, novels, magazines, and all kinds of books.  She crocheted and did yarn work.  She was a Wee Wisdom Pen Pal, writing people she has never met in person.  Every year she would send out Christmas cards, making sure to keep up with Bob's old Navy buddies.

On Thursday July 22 ^nd , 2021 Betty passed away at Winfield Senior Living.  She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Keith Hare, Don Hare, and Phyllis Standrich; and nephew, Terry Hare.

Betty will be deeply missed by her husband, Bob; nephews and nieces, David Standrich and wife, Lynn, Daryl Standrich and wife, Tresa, Brian Hare, Kay Koehler and husband, Bryan, Wanda Wencl and husband, Bryon, HD Mayo and wife, Mickey, and Jennifer White and husband, Paul; other relatives; and many friends.

Graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2021 at the DeVore Cemetery, southeast of Bluff City, Kansas.

Viewing will be held 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.
