Becky Sue (Starks) Hess LaBrue was born September 16, 1953 at the Galloway Hospital in Anthony, Kansas, daughter of Bobby Joe and Roberta Lee (Flowers) Starks.  She grew up on a farm southwest of Manchester, Oklahoma, where she began working at a young age.  She was a lifelong member of the Rosedale Church of Christ being baptized in November 1965.  She attended grade school in Amorita, Oklahoma and graduated from Burlington High School in 1971.

On May 20, 1972, Becky married Carthel Hess and this union was blessed with one daughter, Shelly Ann.  They made their home in Manchester, Oklahoma.

Following school, she continued working on the family farm until 1992 when she went to school to become a CNA and later a CMA.  She started working at the Community Health Center in Wakita, Oklahoma.  In 2000, she went to work at the Anthony Hospital in Anthony, Kansas, where she stayed for 11 years.  After leaving the Anthony Hospital she went back to work at the Community Health Center in the housekeeping department.  Following her retirement, Becky took advantage of being able to help her mother as often as possible.

Becky took pride in her home and yard, always keeping the outside looking pretty, especially her koi pond.  She was known for making the most delicious Lemon Meringue Pies.  She enjoyed crocheting, collecting hummingbirds, and doing puzzles.

Becky passed away on December 13, 2023 at the Community Health Center in Wakita, Oklahoma at the age of 70.  She was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Joe Starks and her brother, Terry Lee Starks.

Becky will be deeply missed by her daughter, Shelly Kane and husband, Terry; her mother, Roberta Starks; sisters: Sherry Hess and husband, Edgar, and Peggy Rieger and husband, Rod; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2023 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony with Pastor Rod Rieger officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rosedale Cemetery, southwest of Manchester, Oklahoma.

Friends may view and register from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Prairie Rose in Anthony.
