Barbara L. Wise was born on February 15, 1938 to Jerry Michael and Stella Elizabeth (Olivier) Mackey.  Born in Danville, Kansas, this is where she spent her childhood, the second youngest of seven, and attended school at the Immaculate Conception Catholic School.  Barbara went on to Sacred Heart Academy in Wichita, Kansas for her high school education.

On January 11, 1969, Barbara married Robert A. Wise in Wichita and to this union a son, Steven and a daughter, Kathleen were born.  Family was very important to Barbara.  Along with all her years as a homemaker, she worked in the office at Midas Muffler.  Barbara's catholic upbringing, education, and devotion showed her love for Jesus and a life of Christianity.  She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Wichita.

After a long battle with her health, Barbara passed away June 28, 2020 in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 82 years, 4 months, and 13 days.  Preceding her in death are her parents, Jerry and Stella; her son, Steven Michael Wise; and all of her siblings: Ed, Jerry J., Don, Alan, Betty Lee Cummings, and Joan M. Mackey.  She is survived by her husband, Bob of Wichita; daughter, Kathleen Evans of Columbia, Missouri; granddaughters, Hannah and Olivia Evans; sister-in-law, Marilyn Mackey of Wichita; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

To honor Barbara's wishes, there will be a closed casket.  Friends may register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mass of the Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Danville, of the St. Joan of Arc Parish of Harper County with Father Bob Pinninti officiating.  Interment follows at the Fairview Cemetery, south of Danville.
