Barbara Ryan

Barbara Ann (Trotter) Ryan began her journey in life on August 15, 1952, born in Harper, Kansas to Vernon Donald Trotter and Doreen Elsie (O’Hanlon) Trotter. Barb was born five years after her older sister, Linda Diane (Trotter) Pfannenstiel. She attended K-11 in Attica, Kansas.

Barb married her high school sweetheart, Michael Dean Ryan on November 9, 1968 in her parent’s home. After they moved back to Attica, Barb took various jobs including: wife, mother, cook at USD 511 and Attica Long Term Care (ALTC), and then housekeeping at ALTC. She also worked at her father’s grocery store, “Trotter’s Market”. Her proudest occupation was being an excellent cook, housekeeper, wife, and mom.

Barb enjoyed playing canasta, once a month with a large group of women, and every night with her sister, Linda. She also did pretty well on a Tuesday morning bowling team. Barb used to enjoy playing jacks with her sister and cousins.

Mike and Barb owned a portion of the Attica Fun Center. Mike has owned several antique vehicles over the years and they would go to all of the area car shows together. They owned a ski boat and she used to call herself the Ski Queen. She and Mike used to frequent little area bars and rode to motorcycle rallies, having a blast with all of their friends. Barb enjoyed listening to rock bands; her absolute favorite song was “Start Me Up” by the Rolling Stones.

Barb had a quick wit and loved to give people a hard time. Her orneriness will be missed.

Barb’s story ended on September 23, 2026 at the age of 74. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Doreen; her older sister Linda; and their little sister Tina Marie. Barb is survived by her husband of 58 years, Mike and their daughter Lori.

Cremation has taken place and there are no services scheduled at this time.
