Allan David Pence was born on the family farm in Rawlins County, Kansas on August 4, 1932, to Homer Norris Pence and Ruth Blanche (Ryman) Pence.  He graduated from Colby High School in 1950.  He was one of six children born to that union, three of which were triplets.  With the need to help his dad, Allan learned how to farm at an early age.

On March 20, 1955, Allan was united in marriage to Lois Elaine Rogers.  This union was blessed with three sons: Roger, Quinn, and James Lee, and one daughter, Tammy (deceased).  Allan and Lois raised those sons to be amazing men, loyal, hard-working, loving husbands and fathers.

Being raised on a homesteaded farm, farming was Allan's passion in life.  He and Lois made their home on the family farm near Colby, where they raised cattle, horses, wheat, milo, and corn.  Lois brought a dowry of milking shorthorn cows to the marriage and thus started the dairy operation of the farm, which would be carried on for the next 20 years.  Allan and Lois worked tirelessly to preserve and enhance their slice of heaven on earth.  Allan worked on the farm from a young boy until just a couple of years ago.  Quinn and his sons are carrying on the family legacy of being involved in farming and agriculture businesses.

Allan and Lois worked hard on the farm, co-oping with neighbors to share work.  When he wasn't busy farming, he enjoyed hunting, horses, and competing in rodeos.  Allan participated in Wrestling in high school over 70 years ago and introduced the love of that sport to all three of his sons and then grandsons.  Lee continues the tradition by refereeing matches still today.

While Allan perhaps never really understood Roger's need to fly rather than farm, he enjoyed the stories of Roger's adventures.  Allan finally took his first flight to see the ocean at age 75.

In 2019, Allan and Lois moved to Attica, Kansas to be closer to family.  On December 15, 2020, Allan passed away at Attica Long Term Care in Attica, Kansas at the age of 88 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Tammy; and sisters: Helen Anderson, Mary Nelson, and Loretta Rikoff.

Allan will be missed by his sons: Roger Pence and wife, Joan, Quinn Pence and wife, Carla, and Lee Pence and wife, DJ; siblings: Lorraine Bliss and Lawrence Pence; 10 grandchildren:  Tiffany Pence, Danielle Quintanar, Jeremiah Pence, Levi Pence, Matthew Pence, Caleb Pence, Jeshua Pence, Luke Pence, Mariah Pence, and Samual Pence; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and neighbors.

Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Harper, Kansas with Reverend Rick Harms officiating.  The service will be live streamed on www.facebook.com/prairierosefuneralhomes and will also be uploaded to Allan's obituary page at www.prairierosefuneralhomes.com following the service.  A private burial will take place at the Beulah Cemetery in Colby, Kansas.
