Aliece (Dandridge) Masingale was born July 22, 1930 in Porum, Oklahoma to Sheridan and Pearl (Dunn) Dandridge.  She passed away from this earth with her 4 daughters by her side at the Harper Hospital on November 8, 2018 at the age of 88 years old.

Aliece grew up on a farm near Porum along with 3 brothers and 6 sisters.  You might say it was a full house!  Besides babysitting siblings, she was out picking cotton, until daddy sent her back to the house after she threw crying fits over finding worms in the cotton.

After high school, she worked at Kress's Dept store in Tulsa where she lived with one of her sisters.  Soon she met her future husband, Maxie E. Masingale and to this union 4 daughters were born, Beverly, Sharon, Debra, and Vickie.

After living in California and then Wichita, Kansas for a short time, Aliece and Max resided in Harper, Kansas to finish raising their daughters.  Aliece was a stay at home mom for the early years.  During that time, she enjoyed decorating cakes, fixing hair and giving perms to anyone who would let her, and she was an excellent seamstress.  She kept pretty busy always making clothes for someone, even wedding dresses.  In the summer she was busy in the large garden that the family planted and canning vegetables was one of her passions, along with sand plum picking and making jelly.  There wasn't anything she couldn't do.

When the girls were in their teens she decided to go to work as a CNA, which later turned into being a ward clerk at the Harper Hospital.  She had many co-workers who were her best friends.  After 25 years she retired and just stayed around the house working in the yard, kept up the sewing and loved working jigsaw puzzles.  She was very independent, she could change a kitchen faucet, put down flooring, if it wasn't broke she'd fixed it anyway.  The girls would buy her clothes and it didn't matter if they fit or not, she altered them.  One daughter had to hide the chainsaw from her but she just went and bought another one.  That was mom!!

Aliece loved dogs but hadn't had one for many years.  A lost dog was brought over to her for safe keeping until the owner was found, during that time she had given it a bath and cut its hair.  She was really disappointed when the owner came forward.  We were all surprised she hadn't named it.

She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Wedman of Harper, Sharon (Carl) Drouhard of Danville, Debbie Rayl of Rosehill, and Vickie (Dan) Short of Caldwell; a brother Harold Dandridge of San Diego, California; sisters Maxine Sexton of Moore, Oklahoma, Martha Yancy of Boulder, Colorado, Dorothy Jeffries of Bakersfield, California, and Wilma Jean Kern of Bakersfield, California; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers William Dandridge, Morris Dandridge, and Infant Bobby Frank; sisters Verna Mae Stockton and Iva Lee Phillips; son-in-law Dale Wedman; grandsons Jeffery Wedman and Christopher Drouhard; and an infant great-grandson Gregory Drouhard.

Friends may view and register from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Graveside Service is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Fairview Cemetery south of Danville with David Short officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in Aliece's name to the Kansas Humane Society or Spring View Manor of Conway Springs and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
