Alice Maree Peterson was born on April 12, 1933 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to George John Field and Madelene (McMaster) Field.  Growing up in Altoona, this is where she attended Irving Elementary before going on to Altoona Senior High, graduating with the class of 1951.

After graduating, Alice worked for the Sylvania lightbulb factory for two years before moving to Detroit, Michigan, where she moved in with her sister, Marjorie.  A short time later she moved into a Salvation Army women's residence.

Through mutual friends, Clarence and Edith, Alice met John Herman Peterson, Jr.  She was working as a receptionist at the Henry Ford Hospital at the time.  The love the couple had for each other was very moving and Alice swooned over John, like love at first sight.

In 1962, the couple moved to Harper, Kansas to continue their life together.  Alice got a job as a nurse's aide for Dr. Antrim at the Anthony Hospital.  In July of 1965, Alice and John were united in marriage in Miami, Oklahoma.  Alice became the bookkeeper for the couple's business, John Peterson Trucking.

Alice was a simple woman that loved being a wife and homemaker.  In the mornings, you would find her watching and listening to birds out of her kitchen window.  Throughout the day, she enjoyed cooking and listening to Gospel music.  On nice afternoons, Alice enjoyed swinging on the porch with John before going inside to watch Wheel of Fortune and do her nightly crosswords.  She was always excited for their trips to Wichita, Kansas to shop at Aldi.

Although Alice and John were unable to have kids of their own, they helped raise and take on the Madsen girls (Amber and Michelle) as their own.  She was a wonderful and loving person, and spread warmth and her love of Jesus wherever she went.

Alice and John had both become residents of the nursing home in Attica, Kansas, Attica Long Term Care, in early 2011.  John passed away on March 30, 2012.  And this is where Alice passed away on November 12, 2020.  Also preceding her in death are her parents, George and Madelene; and siblings: George John Jr "Jack," Madeline Ella, Katheleen Lucinda, Mary Margret, Harold Sidney, Robert Bruce, Lewis Ray, Marjorie Winifred, and Mildred Charlotte Sue.  She is survived by her brother, Richard "Dick" Eugene Field and his wife Sue; the Madsen family, Dean and Carrie and their kids: Amber McLain (Max), Michelle Woodside (Lane), and DJ Madsen; her family at Attica Long Term Care; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Visitation is 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Graveside Service is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the Harper Cemetery.  Please wear protective face covering if able to do so and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Attica Long Term Care Center and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
