Alden Hugh Miller was born September 9, 1928 in Anthony, Kansas, son of Hugh Durham and Lucy Arabelle (Loomis) Miller.  He graduated from Manchester High School in 1947 and attended Northwestern College in Alva.

He joined the United States Air Force and was called to active duty on October 8, 1950.  He was involved in the later parts of the Berlin Airlift and the beginning of the Korean War, at which time he served in the 97 ^th Bombardment Group.  He received an honorable discharge on October 7, 1951.

In 1950, while stationed at Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile, Alabama, he married the love of his life, Sarah E. Brewer.  Alden was transferred to Biggs Air Force Base in El Paso, TX, where they were blessed with their son, Martin "Marty", in 1951.

After serving in the USAF, Alden worked as an aircraft mechanic for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas.  Alden and Sarah moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1952 in order for him to work for Douglas Aircraft.  He also rebuilt wrecked small aircraft.  He learned to fly at Brown Airport in Tulsa.  He later trained to fly helicopters while serving in the National Guard.  His first job as a Corporate Pilot was flying a DC-3 for the Tulsa Oilers baseball team and it's owner A. Ray Smith in the early 1970's.  He flew for several oil companies and Tulsair Beechcraft before joining Albert Equipment as their first Chief Pilot.  He later flew for Oral Roberts University.

Alden was an A&P aircraft mechanic.  A Warbird enthusiast, flying many (and owning some) like the PT-17 Stearman, the Navy N3N, the AT-6, the AT-11 (Twin Beech), the T28, and co-piloted the B-25 Mitchell.  He had ratings in the Saberliner, the Falcon 20, and the Falcon 50.  One highlight of Alden's career in aviation was flying his own PT-17 as the double for Laurence Fishburne in the 1995 television movie, The Tuskegee Airman .

Alden was a longtime member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, was a 32 ^nd Degree Mason, a member of the American Legion, Quiet Birdmen, and Stearman Restorers Association.

On February 14, 2022, Alden passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 93.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his four brothers: Carleton, Leland, Darrel, and Alfred.

Alden will be deeply missed by his wife of 71 years, Sarah; his son, Marty Miller and wife, Mickey; grandsons: Travis Miller and wife, Cassie, and Tony Miller and wife, Shannon; 2 great-grandchildren:  Anna and Paul; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Manchester Cemetery, Manchester, Oklahoma. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Riverside Airport in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
