Abby Lyn Hughes, 58, a resident of Miami, OK passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in Commerce, OK. Abby was born on March 2, 1963 in Anthony, KS to Jerry and Betty (Jones) Hughes. She attended Sharon, KS public schools and graduated from Chaparral High School with the Class of 1981.

Abby worked for many years in Security at River Bend Casino before leaving to work as an assistant at Grand Lake Mental Health. Abby recently returned to River Bend Casino to work in the Cashier's Cage. She was an avid Oklahoma State Cowboys and Denver Broncos fan. Family was very important to Abby and she also loved her fur babies. She was a big jokester who loved to be outside and go to the creek. She would do just about anything for anybody.

Her dad Jerry Hughes preceded her in passing along with her grandmother Wilma Jones and her aunts Frances Jones and Dorothy Smith and her uncle Bob Hughes.

Survivors include her mother Betty Hughes of Anthony, KS, her partner Rhonda Gabbard-Hughes of the home, her son Mathieu Nirschl of Claremore, OK and a sister Lori Wilcox and her husband Joe of Anthony, KS. Her niece and nephews are Kasey Hunter and her husband Matt, Justin Wilcox and his wife Megan, and Clay Wilcox and his wife Ashlan, along with great nieces and nephews Andrew, Alec, Addison, Jadon, Miley, Beckett, Jrue and Jada. She is also survived by step-mom Raydene Hughes, step brothers Mike and Gary LaCore and step sister Diana Miller. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, including her family and many friends.

Following cremation, a celebration of life will be held in Miami, OK at the Brown-Winters Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 27 at 2 p.m.

Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at Forest Park Cemetery in Anthony, Kansas with Mike Cather officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Abby may be made to the Miami Animal Alliance or to St. Jude Children's Hospital, and sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
