Mary Margaret Hess

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Forest Park Cemetery in Anthony with Brother Bobby Smith officiating. Cremation has taken place.

Friends may register from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.

Memorials may be given to the Anthony Christian Church, the Wakita Community Health Center or to Hospice Circle of Love of Enid, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Prairie Rose Funeral Homes, Inc., 602 E. Main St. ~ Anthony, KS 67003, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Margaret was born January 26, 1926 in Anthony, KS, daughter of Orrin Harrison and Helen Agnes (Zolezzi) Naylor. She spent her childhood in Anthony.

She married Louis Paul Hess on June 9, 1945 in Wellington, Kansas. They made their home in Manchester and were blessed with a large loving family. They later divorced.

In the early 70's Mary moved to Wakita. After years of being a homemaker and raising her family Mary went to work at the Community Health Center in Wakita. She worked as a nurse’s aide, a cook and in housekeeping.

Being a homemaker for many years, Mary loved cooking, sewing, canning, embroidery and crafting. She made lots of plastic canvas crafts and crocheted many afghans. She sewed many wedding and square dance dresses. Many of her family and friends were blessed with her homemade gifts.

Mary was a member of the Anthony Christian Church and the Community Health Center Auxiliary.

On March 19, 2012, Mary passed away at the Wakita Community Health Center at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Elaine Isaacs; brothers, Lloyd Patrick Naylor and John Joseph Naylor; sister, Betty Jean Vess; and grandson, Kristopher Kody Lamb.

She will be deeply missed by her children: Mary Lou Leblo, Judy (Dean) Bellin, all of Wakita; Bud (Martha) Hess of Anthony; Maggie Ream (Robert Creech) of Enid, Kay (Billy) Majors of Melville, LA, Janice Buswell of Glidden, Iowa, Michael “Burlie” (Rita) Hess of Enid, Bobby Joe (Stephanie Jodee) Hess of Midland, TX, Tammy Lamb (Dan Warnecker) of Enid, Ricky (Patti) Hess of Waukomis, Kevin Hess (Tasha) of Shawnee, Jack (April) DeBord of Ada; sisters, Harriett Sebring and Winnie Lee Bigley of Wichita; 27 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.
